Join us at the American Museum of Natural History 2/16/25. We have been protesting at the museum for a year and a half now to get the museum to declare a climate emergency. Our actions have been fruitful: they have updated their climate exhibit with language that highlights our skyrocketing global greenhouse gas emissions. However, they are not educating everyone who comes to the museum as to the severity of our current climate and biodiversity breakdown. We are asking them to take a stand to defend, protect and educate the public by declaring a climate emergency and being loud and clear about our crisis.
Our action on 2/16/25 will have two components. First, we will meet up at 81st.St. and Central Park West in Central Park. Then we will go in the museum, spread out in pairs, to conduct a survey about people’s opinions on the museum’s climate work, ask people to sign the petition and join us. We will do this for about an hour. Then we will “march” to one of Raymond McGuire’s apt. about 3 blocks away. Raymond McGuire is the treasurer of the Board of Trustees at the Museum, and he also sits on the board of Hess Corp. and profits $330,000/yr off this seat. We will flier, sing and chant; spreading the word that his neighbors are living next to a green-washer /oil enabler, someone who gains profit off of the cause of climate disasters. We are asking him to be a good neighbor, and commit to getting the museum to declare a climate and ecological emergency.
We have connected the dots, the board of trustees of the AMNH is occupied by many who financially gain from the fossil fuel industry. Please see (and sign) our petition for more details.
