As we take to the streets with Nonviolent Direct Action, we aim to connect with each other from the heart using the principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), which encourages us to understand and respect the humanity in each of us. It's a chance for us to recognize what we have in common as well as our differences and to learn and grow from both, respecting that we all share the same universal human needs.
As a decentralized, autonomous movement, we depend on sharing honest and thoughtful feedback to address the tensions or misunderstandings that can arise. How can we give feedback from the heart without criticizing, in a way that encourages an empathetic, non-defensive response? How can we integrate regular opportunities for feedback into our activities so that they become a natural part of our reflecting and learning?
This training will cover some of the basic principles of NVC, as well as its practical application in getting comfortable with giving feedback. Our trainer, Shea Riester, is an experienced NVC Teacher.
All Rebels are highly encouraged to attend!
