Join us for a peaceful and defiant rally for the start of the highly significant Steven Donziger trial. We must bear witness to the corruption and stand with Steven and his truth.
Steven Donziger is an environmental lawyer who successfully sued Chevron for its destruction of the Amazon on behalf of thousands of Indigenous people. Because of this lawsuit and the $9.5 billion they would have to pay, Chevron has come after Steven with all their money and power, forcing him to spend 630 days in house arrest here in NYC, disbarring him, and trying to destroy his livelihood by painting him as a "criminal”.
This is out-of-control corporate power at its most corrupt. The presiding judge on the case, Judge Preska, has terminated Zoom access to the trial and refused to reserve seats for an international team of trial monitors. Chevron, their lawyers, and the judges in their pockets want this trial to go away, with just enough legitimacy to escape outrage. But WE ARE OUTRAGED. If we have any chance of tackling the climate crisis and holding these destructive fossil fuel companies accountable, we need more lawyers like Steven to be doing this work. We cannot be intimidated. Chevron must pay.
Bring signs, your voice, and your outrage
